STATE DISCLAIMER

Any student or graduate of the KYW program who lives in, or intends to offer services, in the State of Utah should be aware of the following:

Regarding certain restrictions imposed by the laws and regulations of the State of Utah that pertain to naturopathy (Utah Code Annotated, 58-71-101, et. seq.).

The State of Utah has adopted statutes and regulations (UCA 58-71-102(12)(c)) that limit the use of the words “naturopathic physician,” “naturopathic doctor,” “naturopath,” “doctor of naturopathic medicine,” “doctor of naturopathy,” “naturopathic medical doctor,” “naturopathic medicine,” “naturopathic health care,” “naturopathy,” “N.D.,” “N.M.D.,” or any combination of these designations in any manner that might cause a reasonable person to believe the individual using the designation is a licensed naturopathic physician.  These terms may only be used by a naturopathic physician licensed in the State of Utah that meets specific criteria as set forth by the Utah Naturopathic Physicians Licensing Board.

The Utah statutes and regulations also prohibit the “practice of naturopathic medicine” without the qualifications set forth above.  That term is defined in Utah law as follows:

“Practice of naturopathic medicine” means: (a) a system of primary health care for the prevention, diagnosis, and treatment of human health conditions, injuries, and diseases that uses education, natural medicines, and natural therapies, to support and stimulate the patient’s intrinsic self-healing processes.”

The law also prohibits any person from maintaining an office or place of business in the State of Utah for the purpose of the “practice of naturopathic medicine,” as defined above.

In order to comply with those statutes and regulations, KYW does not issue any diploma or license identifying its students and/or graduates by any title prohibited under Utah law.  This would include a certificate including the designation of “Traditional Naturopath.”  Accordingly, KYW students who live and or intend to offer services in the State of Utah shall receive a graduation certificate in Holistic Health.  Additionally, KYW does not offer any live optional workshops in the state of Utah.

KYW does not offer legal advice with regard to the offer of services by its students or graduates who reside in, or offer services in, the State of Utah, and cannot be responsible for any violations of Utah law or regulations by its students or graduates.  KYW recommends that any student or graduate who intends to offer services in the State of Utah confer with competent legal counsel in order to be in full compliance with Utah laws and regulations.
