Executive Director, Matthew Hollist, D.N., N.D.
Dr. Hollist is Co-Founder and current Executive Director of the International Institute of Natural Wellness Education. He has worked in natural wellness for 15 years. Starting out as a Nutritional Therapy Practitioner, Prof. Hollist then continued on to becoming a Naturopathic Doctor, and then completing a second Diplomate in Naprapathy. He is certified in Scandinavian Mobilization Therapy and an active member of the American Naturopathic Medical Association. His clinical experience includes a diverse application of manual therapies along with dietary, herbal, nutritional, homeopathic and lifestyle consulting. This balance of diverse manual therapies and traditional naturopathic modalities has given Prof. Hollist a rounded understanding on how to apply all aspects of Naturopathic and holistic modalities into one system of effective practice.
Dr. Hollist has spent a significant portion of his career formulating herbal and nutritional products for several companies and owned his own private label nutrition company for 7 years. He left the field of nutritional formulation and production to expand his reach as an internationally recognized educator in the field of natural wellness specializing in many traditional Naturopathic assessment styles as well neuro-lingual reflex assessment. He also has vast training in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) techniques such as TCM pulse analysis, face analysis and acupoint balancing. He has taught for several organizations and aside from duties as Executive Director of the Int'l Institute of Natural Wellness Education, Prof. Hollist is also one of the principle professors for the Institute.
Adj. Professor, Daniel Nuzum, N.D., D.N., Ph.D.
Dr. Nuzum is a Naturopath, Naprapath, Native American Practitioner and Mechanotherapist. For over 14 years he has specialized in and practices holistic therapies, Naprapathy, Mechanotherapy, and Elats Kowat (a form of Mayan healing). Dr. Nuzum also has a background in Oriental medicine, medical acupuncture, darkfield microscopy and iridology. Prof. Nuzum is a qualified Naturopathic Physician that utilizes nutrition, nutritionalfFood as medicine, and Western and Oriental herbal remedies. He treats musculoskeletal conditions using a combination of manipulation, massage, soft tissue therapy and physical modalities from Naprapathy, Mechanotherapy, Tui Na and Elats Kowat. Dr. Nuzum was a Professor and the Clinical Director at the Central States College of Health Sciences for 7 years, after working in Mexico for 2 years, and has been working very closely with both Native American and Oriental Medicine Practitioners since 2007. He has also been formulating products since 1998.
In 1994, Dr. Nuzum began his formal studies in both Naturopathic and Naprapathic Medicine. He graduated in 1999 with degrees from the Southern College of Naturopathic Medicine and the North American College of Naprapathic Medicine after completing a 2 year internship in Manzanillo, Jalsco, Mexcio. He also studied with and became a Professor at the Central States College of Health Sciences, where he operated and maintained the schools 2 clinics (in Toledo and Columbus, Ohio). Dr. Nuzum graduated in October of 2004 with the dual degrees of Doctor of Naturopathic Medicine and Doctor of Mechanotherapy from the college. He went on to finish a
1800+ apprenticeship in Manual Therapy and Medical Acupuncture at the Central States College of Health Sciences finishing in late 2006. In conjunction with his work with the Int'l Institute of Natural Wellness Education, Dr. Nuzum is also a Professor at Pan Am University in Nevis, West Indies and Loma Linda, Ecuador. He is a Professor of Naturopathic Medicine, Osteopathy and Oriental Medicine for the University.
Adj. Professor, Mark Vance, M.D., Oxidative Therapy
Dr. Mark Vance, M.D. serves as an Adjunct Professor for the Int'l Institute of Natural Wellness Education. He is an invaluable asset and his passion for the field of natural wellness gives him a unique prospective.
Prof. Vance grew up in Australia and Canada and attended St. Louis University School of Medicine from 1990 to 1994. After his internship and military service in the U.S. Navy, he completed his family practice residency in Springfield, Illinois. Following residency he moved to Quincy, Washington where he performed full spectrum family practice including inpatient, outpatient and emergency medicine.
In 2012, Dr. Vance learned about oxidative medicine and attended Dr. Shallenberger’s class on ozone. This class changed his life, starting him down the path to treating and curing the cause of disease instead of managing the symptoms. In 2013, he moved from Quincy to Boise where he works at various naturopathic clinics as well as Emergency Departments around the state of Idaho.
Dr. Vance utilizes oxidative medicine such as prolozone, neural therapy, ultraviolet blood irradiation, as well as major and minor auto-hemotherapy. These therapies are highly effective for many kinds of musculoskeletal pain, auto-immune disorders and chronic disease. He is also trained in IV therapies.
Adj. Professor, Ellen Tart-Jensen, Ph.D., D.Sc, CCII
Dr. Jensen has studied and worked in the field of Iridology for 25 years and in the fields of Nutrition and Natural Healing Methods for 30 years. She is certified to teach Certification Classes by the Int'l Iridology Practitioners Association (IIPA). Having taught numerous classes with the late Dr. Bernard Jensen (the Father of Western Iridology), she is certified to teach Iridology and sign certificates by him. She has a busy practice where she receives iris photographs from around the world to be analyzed.

Professor Laurence Smith is a Traditional Naturopath and Certified Natural Health Consultant. He has been a dynamic, internationally recognized educator in the field of Natural Wellness for over 10 years. He is known for his ability to teach from the heart and help others realize the importance of this mission to inspire others to walk the path of wellness. He teaches for several organizations. Along with his work for the Int'l Institute of Natural Wellness Education, he does extensive national lecturing of Nature's Sunshine Products and is an NSP Regional Manager. He is also a Zone Certified Instructor.
Professor Smith has his B.A. in social work and is very adapt in balancing the emotional effects of life and the physical manifestation that results. He is a firm believer in treating the body as a whole and that all illness before it manifests physically has an emotional/spiritual component that must also be addressed.
Prof. Smith found wellness 28 years ago after suffering two major heart attacks. He has studied and dedicated his life to natural health and health education. He has been studying natural health for over 20 years. He owns and operates a wellness clinic, Health Partners, Inc. in Boise, ID. He has written and published several invaluable booklets and other educational materials on wellness related topics.
Adj. Professor, Sandra K. Livingston Ellis, M.H.
Professor Ellis is a master herbalist, microscopist, midwife and mother of 15 children and grandmother to 41 grandchildren. Aside from her work with the Int'l Institute of Natural Wellness Education, she teaches and lectures nationwide for The School of Natural Healing, and has been adopted into the Shahaptian Healing Way as a medicine woman. She has been instrumental in helping many people discover the joy of self-sufficiency through nutrition and natural healing.

Adj. Professor, Patrick Jones, D.V.M.
Dr. Patrick Jones has been a practicing veterinarian for 20 years. He received his doctorate in veterinary medicine from the Purdue University School of Veterinary Medicine. His undergraduate work was in the fields of entomology and veterinary science at Brigham Young University and Utah State University.
Because of his veterinary credentials, Dr. Jones has had the opportunity to use medicinal plants on very serious cases that most herbalists would not be in a position to undertake. As a result, he has developed expertise in areas of herbal medicine that have only been “theoretical” for most herbalists for the past 100 years.
In addition to his veterinary patients, Dr. Jones works as a clinical herbalist for human clients. He is also the corporate veterinarian for Silver Lining Herbs and does formulation, customer support and training.
Dr. Jones is the author of The HomeGrown Herbalist
. He is passionate about teaching and his company HomeGrown Herbalist, LLC (homegrownherbalist.net) provides online articles and puts on herb walks and workshops to help others to learn about using medicinal plants.
Dr. Jones is married to LoriAnn Bair Jones of Blackfoot, Idaho. The Jones have 15 children (11 adopted, 4 biological) and six grandchildren. LoriAnn is a midwifery student and masterful gardener. The Jones have extensive herb gardens and produce about 70 medicinal plants on their property for use in their practice.
Guest Lecturer, Cody Hollist, Ph.D.
Dr. Hollist is currently an Associate Professor in the University of Nebraska Department of Family and Consumer Sciences and the Director of the Marriage and Family Therapy program. His area of research interest is Latino adolescent mental health issues and Latino family resilience. His research specifically focuses on Latino adolescent use of mental health services and associated family resiliency. He is currently working on a longitudinal project in Brazil looking at family resilience.
Aside from his tenured teaching position at the University of Nebraska, Dr. Hollist is past president of the Nebraska Association of Marriage and Family Therapy and currently serves his country as Chaplain in the Nebraska Air National Guard. His expertise in the family sciences division of the mental health field provide a unique similarity to those of us in natural wellness. Motivating others to make positive life changes is a critical skill as a Doctor of Marriage and Family Therapist and also as a Chaplain. Teaching this technique, known as motivational interviewing, is only one of the many important lectures that the Int'l Institute of Natural Wellness Education has come to rely on from Dr Hollist.

For over 30 years, Steven Horne has been teaching people how to identify and remove the root causes of their heath problems, rather than just treating symptoms. A Registered Herbalist with and past president of the American Herbalists Guild (AHG), Steven’s passion for herbal medicine and natural healing has lead him to teach classes all over the United States and Canada and in other countries. Through his companies Tree of Light Publishing and The School of Modern Herbal Medicine, Steven has produced numerous books, courses, charts, videos and webinars teaching people about herbal medicine, nutrition, emotional healing and other topics related to holistic healing, including The Comprehensive Guide to Nature’s Sunshine Products, The ABC Herbal, The Heart’s Key to Health, Happiness and Success and Modern Herbal Medicine, which was coauthored with fellow herbalist Thomas Easley. Dr. Michelle Jorgensen is an author, speaker, teacher, biologic/holistic dentist, and health and wellness provider. After practicing traditional dentistry for 10 years, Dr. Jorgensen became very sick. Through her own journey to return to health, she discovered she had mercury poisoning from drilling out mercury fillings for her patients. She was concerned that there may be other health-threatening materials or procedures in dentistry, and led her to the Biologic/Holistic Dentistry field.
For the last 10 years she has been paving the way in Biologic/Holistic dentistry, learning from pioneers all over the world. She has created the Total Care Dental Way, a patient CARE centric, health focused method for treating dental and over all health. Patients from around the world seek out her care, and come to Total Care Dental to have their health restored.
Dr. Jorgensen has received certifications as a Therapeutic Nutritional Counselor and a Certified Nutritional AutoImmune Specialist. She completed a Holistic Dental Mini-Residency, and is pursuing ongoing training from Swiss Biohealth in Switzerland and Costa Rica.

Neil has been very personally involved in Natural Health for 9 years since being diagnosed with terminal Cancer. He has taken the road of Natural Medicine to stay alive. There has been no Oncologist in Neil’s medical history because they simply said there was nothing an Oncologist could do for him, so he was left in the care of his surgeon. This lead to a very busy beginning of endless reading, classes and testing. He is a graduate of the Know Your Wellness Traditional Naturopath Program and is also Nationally Board Certified through the ANMCB and is and active member of the ANMA. He is also a TNC from Karen’ Hollistic Health. Neil has also pursued extensive work and training in Homeopathy and is a Certified expert in Homeoprophylaxis from world renowned Dr. Cilla Whatcott. With more than 35 years of experience, she is able to share her passion for healthful living with infectious enthusiasm.
Cindy has been featured on local television stations and acknowledged in over a dozen news articles. She is an adjunct professor at Eastern Michigan University, and an advisory board member of Community Supported Anthroposophic Medicine as well as the Health Practitioners Advisory Council. Among her decades-long training in holistic, alternative, complementary, integrative, and functional medicine she also holds a Master's degree in Nutrition from Eastern Michigan University, is a Board Certified Nutrition Specialist, and is accredited as a Master Certified Health Educator by the National Commission for Health Education Credentialing. Professor John H. Whiting, M.D.
Dr. Whiting is double board-certified in interventional radiology and phlebology—the medical specialty that treats veins.
Dr. Whiting attended the University of Utah School of Medicine. He completed fellowships in Interventional Radiology and Nuclear Medicine and was one of the first physicians to be nationally certified in Phlebology.
Dr. Whiting treats veins with minimally invasive techniques. He is married and is the father of two beautiful daughters. He is active in humanitarian efforts and often spends his summer vacations assisting people in need all over the world.
